The Seahawks opened their home schedule against the visiting Bruins of Broadneck High School. Both teams fought hard in the opening minutes of the game with neither able to break through. Great goalkeeping by the Broadneck keeper kept the game scoreless for the first nine minutes. Ashley Tarjick broke open the scoring when Maddie Bonzella passed a long ball to her and she juked the goalkeeper and shot into an empty net for the 1-0 lead. Tarjick returned the favor four minutes later when she crossed a pass to Bonzella who lofted a 25 yard shot over the keeper for a 2-0 South River lead. With thirteen minutes left in the half, Makenzie Shields was taken down in the box and the Seahawks were awarded a penalty kick. Gabby Holbert pushed the score to 3-0 shooting the PK under the outstretched arms of the keeper. Broadneck was able to get on the board when Lucy Boehringer curved a long shot over the Seahawks keeper which banked off the post into the goal for a 3-1 halftime score. South River managed several shots on goal the second half but excellent goalkeeping by Broadneck kept the Seahawks scoreless throughout the half. The Seahawks goalkeeper tandem of Jordan Vincent, Caroline Ashen and Julia Cobb tallied five saves and helped South River to their second victory of the season 3-1.
