|South River High School||1|
The Wildcats from Arundel high school traveled to Edgewater to play the Seahawks on a wet rainy afternoon. The game quickly evolved into a strong defensive battle between two of the best teams in the county. Arundel's strong defensive back line kept South River with few shots on goal throughout the first half. When the Seahawks were able to get past the defense to shoot, the Wildcats keeper made good saves to keep the game scoreless. The Seahawks back line of Mia Piazza, Elizabeth Bills, Morgan McLean, Kayla Bobick, Kayla Hannon, Rebecca McClenahan and Kelly May were equally adept at keeping the Arundel offense in check. The teams broke at halftime scoreless in the light rain. Five minutes into the half, with a heavy rain coming down, Maddie Bonzella broke through the Arundel back line and fired a hard shot on the diving keeper which banked off the post directly to Ashley Tarjick who shot past the keeper for a 1-0 Seahawks lead. The remaining thirty minutes of the game was a back and forth contest with South River getting four shots on goal and Arundel notching two of their own. Fine play by the Wildcats keeper and Seahawks keeper, Jordan Vincent, kept both teams from any further scoring. The game ended with the Seahawks keeping their unbeaten season alive with the lone 1-0 score.
