CHESAPEAKE HIGH SCHOOL - AA: 24
The Varsity Football team won their opening game of the year 48-24 vs. Chesapeake. After trailing 9-7 late in the first half, Connor Cox threw one of his six touchdown passes to Jay Smith to give the Seahawks a 14-9 lead heading into halftime. Dan Jones picked up a fumble on the first play of the second half and returned it for a touchdown. The rest was history as the Seahawks rattled of 34 second half points to throttle the Cougars. Cox threw for 6 touchdowns and 338 yards. Smith caught six passes for 168 yards.
Eric Young had 2 touchdowns and 87 yards receiving. Workhorse Lavon Chaney accumulated over 200 yards of total offense and scored one touchdown.
The Seahawks look to avenge last years one point loss to Southern next Friday.
