'Hawks Nix North County 8-2 for Playoff Win

Game Date
May 14, 2010
Score
SEAHAWKS: 8
NORTH COUNTY HIGH: 2

The Seahawks continued to simply pound the ball, putting up 14 hits against the favored North County team for a 8-2 victory in the first round of the playoffs.  Keeping with another recent trend, the 'Hawks started early with consecutive singles by Nick Whiting and Ryan Schoenbauer.  After a Connor Cox sacrifice bunt, Scott Mitchell plated both runners with a double.  Mitchell then scored on the first of two Joe Scott doubles for a 3-run first inning.

After 2 outs in the second, Whiting again singled and Schoenbauer reached on an error and stole second base.  Cox followed with a 2-run single for a 5-1 Seahawk lead.

The 'Hawks put the game away with a 3-run sixth inning.  Mitchell opened the inning with a single.  Bryan Shores singled and Nick Sia entered to run for Shores.  Joe Scott ripped his second double to score both runners.  Scott was knocked in by Whiting with his 3rd single of the game.

Scott Mitchell pitched a complete game to post his 6th win against 2 losses.  Mitchell scattered 6 hits, struck out 2, walked 5 and hit one batter.

The 2 runs scored by Ryan Schoenbauer established a new school record of 25 runs for a season.  The 2 doubles by Joe Scott bring him to within 1 of the school record of 10 for the season, set just last year by Bobby Hite.

Over the past five games, the Seahawks are hitting an incredible .462 AS A TEAM!

On now to North Point for the second round on Monday!
