South River bests Chesapeake in Game 1 of Seahawk/Cougar Invitational
A superb effort by Craig Sheridan led the South River Seahawks to a 1-0 win in seven innings over Chesapeake on Thursday at SRHS.
Sheridan dazzled, throwing a 7-inning, complete game shutout. The junior hurler allowed no runs on three hits while striking out nine.
The Hawks lone run of the crisp ballgame came in the first inning on an RBI double by Scott Mitchell, who drove in Gabe Vertucci. Vertucci had doubled to right. Kyle Canavan and Conner Cox also had hits for South River, now 2-0 on the young season.
