South River salvos continue as the Hawks down Broadneck 4-0 in 4A East Regional Semi-finals

The Seahawks again struck the perfect combination of timely hitting, impeccable defense and dominating pitching as they banished Broadneck for the second time in two weeks.

The Hawks, who notched their fourth shutout in the last five games and second consecutive playoff shutout after winning 7-0 on Monday, got to Bruin starter Michael Thomas early and pounded out 11 hits enroute to a 4-0 win at SRHS on Wednesday.

Connor Cox, Craig Sheridan and Jake Gratz led the hit parade with two hits each, while freshman DH Eric Sieber roped a double to right center to score Nick Raimondo and Brody Raimondo in the second. Earlier in the inning, Cox led off with a single, Brody Raimondo moved him to third on a hit and run single and Nick Raimondo drove him home with a liner to right. Sieber put the icing on the inning with his 2 RBI hit.

The Hawks took the lead in the first. Gabe Vertucci singled to start the game and Sheridan ultimately brought him home with a single to give himself the early margin of victory.

On the mound against the Bruins for the third time this season, Sheridan was equally as impressive, keeping Broadneck off balance all game. During his six innings of work, Sheridan struck out three and allowed no walks and four hits. Nick Raimondo had another stellar outing to close out the win, striking out the side in the seventh.

The Hawks (17-5 overall) now advance to the 4A East Regional Finals on Friday against North County.
