South River (2-2) dominates Broadneck behind Hardesty's five strikeout shutout

Friday at South River High School was a great day for the Seahawk's Charlie Hardesty, as Hardesty tossed a shutout to carry South River to a 2-0 90 minute victory over Broadneck in seven innings.

Hardesty's dominance kept Broadneck off the scoreboard for all seven innings he toed the rubber. He allowed no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up five. Charlie was in complete control of his inventory of curves, changeups, and fastballs and was teamed with Jake Gratz behind the plate and a solid error free defense who turned three double plays. Bryan Shores booked seven put outs at first.

Coach Ken Dunn's Seahawks faced two leftys on the mound. Scott Mitchell went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for South River. Mitchell singled in the first, third, and fifth innings. Craig Sheridan launched a deep double along with a single, Connor Cox belted a pair of singles each for an RBI, Gabe Vertucci and Nick Raimondo also singled.
