South River outlasts Franklin in high-scoring Spring Break affair, 15-8

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Wednesday as South River outscored Franklin 15-8 in seven innings during a viciously fought Spring Break game at Joe Cannon Stadium.

The teams combined for 25 hits, including eight extra base hits.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the fifth, with seven lead changes. The biggest inning for South River was the fifth. South River's bats caught fire leading to eight run to grab the lead and South River went up for good on an RBI double by Joe Scott off Franklin's Dan Harmon, plating Brody Raimondo.

Charlie Hardesty started, hanging tough for 4 critical innings walking 1 and striking out 3 and Bryan Shores got it done in relief. He allowed four runs over three innings struck out two, walked none and surrendered four hits.

Joe Scott, Connor Cox, and and Bryan Shores all doubled and Jake Gratz was hit for the fith time in the season. Scott and Craig Sheridan are credited with 3 RBIs apiece.

Next, South River will face Annapolis in conference play after Easter.
