Arundel got off to a quick start at the top of their line-up, but it was the Seahawks' depth that was too much for the Wildcats to overcome in the end as South River defeated Arundel 6-3 on Friday.

Sophomore Xiaosong Shang found herself in her first real battle of the season in her match versus Samantha Grimm.  After taking a hard fought first set 6-4, Shang quickly found herself down 0-3 in the second set.  She clawed and scratched her way back into it before taking the final three games in the second set to win her match.

Sophomore Adam Russell made quick work at number two boys' singles, while the number two boys' doubles team of sophomores Alex Fagan and Emre Brock did the same.  The team of junior Sam Simmons andsophomore  Mary Duggan as well as sophomore Hannah Parks and freshman Katie Simmons swept at girls doubles.

Seniors Liz Simmons and Sean Miller rounded out the day for the Seahawks with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.  The Simmons' sisters combined for three of the Seahawks six points for the second time this week.  The win improved South River's record to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the county on the season.

South River head to spring break now and will next take on Annapolis at home on Wednesday, April 27 at 3:30 p.m.
