NORTH COUNTY: 0

The Seahawks closed out the season against the visiting Knights from North County High School.  The Knights defense made their presence known from the start confounding the Seahawks front line from getting on the scoreboard.  When South River was able to get shots on goal, the Knights keeper made save after save.  Six minutes into the game a North County defender was called for a hand ball in the box giving the Seahawks a penalty kick.  Goalkeeper Jordan Vincent came out of the goal to take the PK.  Vincent placed a perfect low shot to the left corner of the goal for a 1-0 Seahawks lead.  Eight minutes later Natalie Boyd took a rebound off the defense and shot past the Knights keeper to make the score 2-0.  At the twenty-one minute mark, Maddie Bonzella crossed a perfect pass to Mary Giamo who hit a hard shot past the keeper for a 3-0 Seahawks lead. The North County goalkeeper continued to frustrate the South River offense making numerous saves for the remaining thirteen minutes of the first half.  The Seahawks settled for a 3-0 halftime lead. Tess Casper got on the board when she scored unassisted five minutes into the second half to make the score 4-0.  Six minutes passed until Caitlin "Bam-Bam" Gibson was assisted by Makenzie Shields on a goal to push the lead to 5-0.  At the 52 minute mark, Morgan McLean hit a low pass through the defense which was taken by Ashley Tarjick who shot past the keeper for a 6-0 lead.   Bonzella poured on the offense when she scored two goals in a one minute span, one assisted from Tarjick and the other unassisted to make the lead  8-0.  Amanda Parmele pushed the lead to 9-0 when she was assisted by Gabby Holbert at the 58 minute mark and shot hard past the keeper.  The final eleven minutes of the game was an exhibition of excellent goalkeeping by North County goalkeeper, Sabrina Speake.  Speake made nine saves in the final minutes of the game to hold the Seahawks to a 9-0 final score.  The South River offense took 59 shots and did not allow a single shot by North County.  The Seahawks completed a perfect 12 - 0 season, including eleven shutouts and setting school records for goals scored at seventy-six (tie with 2011 season) and goals against at one.
